Zip - The Numbered Path Puzzle Game

One single line, from number 1 to the last one, hitting the numbers in order and filling every cell. Drag with your finger or mouse: always new puzzles, free and with no sign-up.

How to play, in 4 steps

  1. 1Start from the cell with number 1 and hold down.
  2. 2Drag to the neighbouring cells (up, down, left, right): the line follows you. The black bars are walls and cannot be crossed.
  3. 3You must hit the numbers in order: first 2, then 3, and so on up to the last one.
  4. 4You win when the line fills every cell of the grid, leaving none empty.

To go back, drag over the line you already drew, or use Undo. On a computer the arrow keys work too.

What is the Zip game?

Zip is a grid logic puzzle: you draw one continuous path that starts at number 1, hits every number in the right order and crosses every single cell exactly once. It is the same kind of challenge as numberlink puzzles and Hamiltonian paths, but with rules so simple you get them in thirty seconds and a difficulty that grows with the grid.

This version runs entirely in your browser: no account, no download, no daily limit. Every time you press "New puzzle" the game builds a fresh one that is guaranteed solvable, because it starts from a valid solution and then hides it by adding numbers and walls.

Four difficulty levels, from casual to seriously tough

  • Easy 5×5: 25 cells, perfect for learning the rules in a couple of minutes.
  • Medium 6×6: the first walls appear, along with the first wrong turns to avoid.
  • Hard 7×7: 49 cells, you need to plan the corners before you start.
  • Expert 8×8: big grid and lots of walls, for those who really want to sweat.

Strategies for solving a Zip puzzle

Start from the corners and the edges: a corner cell has only two neighbours, so the path going through it is almost always forced. Then look at the cells fenced in by walls: if an area has a single entrance, the line would have to enter and leave through the same side, which is impossible, so it must be visited at the right moment. Finally count the free cells between two consecutive numbers: if there are too many or too few for the space available, that stretch of path is wrong and it is better to undo it right away.

If you get stuck use the hint: it adds a couple of steps of the official solution and puts you back on track without spoiling the game. Your best time for each difficulty stays saved on your device, so you can try to beat yourself every day.
