The programme

Piano files get orchestrated: melody to the violins, bass to cellos and double basses, arpeggios to the harp. Other files use the instruments they contain.

The sections

M mutes the section, S makes it play alone, 👁 frames it.

Keyboard: Space play/pause · C change camera · F fullscreen · arrows ±10 s. Double-click the scene for the free camera. Prefer falling notes? Open MIDI Studio →

A symphony orchestra in your browser

Every musician really plays their part: violins change bow on every note and the left hand climbs the neck for high notes, brass players raise their bells in the fortissimos, the timpanist hits the right drum and the percussionist crashes the cymbals. The conductor beats the real tempo of the piece, looks at the loudest section and cues with the left hand whoever is about to come in.

How the sound works

The sound is synthesised in real time in the browser, with no samples to download: strings with vibrato, brass that opens up with volume, woodwinds, timpani, cymbals and harp, then concert hall reverb. Each section comes from the side of the stage where it sits. No file is uploaded to the server.
