3D Zen Rooms: 26 places to rest your mind
Every room is a small world the browser builds while you watch it: the ground, the trees, the water and the sky grow from a numeric seed, and the sound you hear is not a recording but is synthesised note by note. Nothing to download, no ads, no account.
🎧 Sound generated live
Water, rain, wind, crickets, frogs, fire, bells and the 136.1 Hz Om note are built in real time with the Web Audio API: they never repeat the same way and have no loop point to notice.
⏳ Timer that fades out
Pick 5, 10, 20 or 45 minutes: in the last seconds the soundscape fades by itself and a gong brings you back gently.
🌬️ 4-7-8 breathing
The circle expands for four seconds, holds for seven and closes in eight: the rhythm used to fall asleep quickly and to lower nervous arousal.
🧭 Automatic journey
Turn on the Journey and the rooms follow one another every three minutes: a slow documentary to leave running while you work or fall asleep.
How to use them
Drag with the mouse or a finger to turn your gaze, use the wheel (or two fingers) to move closer. The arrow keys change room, R opens the list and M turns the sound on or off. The room you are watching stays in the page address: bookmark it and you come straight back to it.
Why a natural setting relaxes you
Looking at water, trees and open horizons takes very little attentional effort: attention settles without being held, which lets the circuits used for forced concentration recover. Continuous, barely predictable sounds — rain, a brook, wind in the leaves — cover sudden noises around you and reduce the small startles that keep the body on alert.
It is not a therapy and does not replace a professional: it is a quiet space to keep open in a browser tab, when you need a real break.
